Spoil Removal at Etches Park
As part of the Etches Park GRIP4-5 project phases, we were requested to tender, contract and oversee the removal of a large quantity of waste and spoil from an historical excavation. The 15,000-tonne heap contained inert, contaminated and hazardous material and had to be disposed of whilst maintaining depot servicing and maintenance capacity and minimising disruption to depot activities. This was achieved successfully and safely and all contaminated spoil was removed safely through a combination of rail and road freight.

The end result was a flat, ballast-covered area of the depot ready for installation of new stabling and running track to be completed later in the project.

Contractor: S Walsh on behalf of East Midlands Railway.
